President Nana Akufo-Addo has ordered the closure of all schools and universities in Ghana as his administration moves to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
On Sunday evening, in a televised address from the Jubilee house, the president ordered the closure of all educational institutions with effect from Monday, March 16, 2020. He also ordered the suspension of all public gatherings including conferences, sporting events and funerals.
Recall that earlier on Sunday afternoon health authorities announced that six cases of the disease have been recorded in the country within a space of less than 48 hours.

he government of Ghana has found an urgent need to ban all public gatherings in the country.
This comes after the country’s Coronavirus cases rose up to six in just three days.
The move was announced by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a recent Coronavirus update on Sunday evening.
Addressing the nation, the president emphatically stated that all public gatherings, being church, festivals, funerals have been banned.
However, private ceremonies will proceed provided there wouldn’t be too many people attending the event.
