Part Fiction, Part Documentary, "Finding Happiness" gives a Real Inside Look at an unusual spiritual community.

Los Angeles, CA, United States, January 13, 2014 -- Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a real conscious community—one where people live in harmony, collaboration, compassion, cooperation, peace and love? That’s what skeptical reporter Juliet (Elisabeth Rohm of American Hustle, Miss Congeniality 2, Armed and Dangerous, Law & Order and The Client List) set out to investigate. On assignment from her editor at Profiles Magazine, this urban chic cynic is plopped in the middle of a modern day Utopia—and she finds what she never expected to discover –True Happiness.

However, the fascinating thing about the charming, satisfying and enlightening film, Finding Happiness, is that it is only partly fiction! It is filmed at the Ananda Village in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of northern California—one of the world’s first and foremost conscious communities – and at Ananda Europa (Italy) and Ananda India. The people who Juliet discovers there are real people talking about their real life experience in genuine, unscripted interviews.

Each person shares with the fictitious Juliet the essence of his work, passion and spiritual experience through which she embarks on her own journey of inner transformation. It’s an astonishing insider’s look at what it is like to live in a place that does indeed manifest a productive, sustainable, collaborative, compassionate and happy lifestyle.

Ananda was founded nearly 50 years ago by the late Swami Kriyananda, who lived with Paramhansa Yogananda (Autobiography of a Yogi), and assumed the lead role in developing the master’s dream of “world brotherhood communities, based on the principle that simple living and high thinking lead to greatest happiness and inner fulfillment.”

Filmed in a beatific setting, amidst the peacefulness of nature, Finding Happiness also features some of the last interviews with Swami Kriyananda, who has left a legacy of 150 books published in 100 countries, 400 musical compositions, and residential communities in seven U.S. cities, plus India and Italy. More than 1,000 people around the world live in Ananda communities, 300 alone in Nevada City, where Finding Happiness takes place.

It was the vision of filmmaker and director Ted Nicolaou to show how a community driven by the motivation of love for one and all--where “people are more important than things”—as Swami says in the film can indeed resonate for the masses. He set out to create a movie that was both entertaining and enlightening. And powerful enough in its message that even

Elisabeth Rohm observed that she went through an equally significant spiritual transformation as her character.

For those who have wondered what it might be like to return to a more harmonious and peaceful way of life amongst like-minded people, Finding Happiness gives a glimpse of that tantalizing future. Finding Happiness is a sweet, uplifting, inspirational story that fills the soul.
