23rd May 2011 - Working as a team is more than just a piece of cake. It is the basis of the working of the foundation. A particular job can be done its best only if the team formed is in the best working condition.
To keep the team in working condition without any mess ups it is best to have some Team Building activities whenever possible, within or outside the office. There are several magazines and books which provide some games and activities that could help better to build up the team.
The team building activities mostly involve the members of the team in a game, where the larger team can be broken down into smaller teams. After the game is over, the teams exchange what problems that they faced as a team and the solution to the problem is discussed.
There are special team managers who can be employed for conducting such team tasks. These activities can either be a short period game, or it can be a situation placed on the teams which can even extend up to a week. It is best that these activities be included in the regular schedule of the working hours in office. These activities have many advantages.
Team building can be helpful such that it improves the coordination between the members of the team and they become a lot more cooperative. This also reduces the frequency of flights between the members of the team. They learn to lose all their personal grudges when they work as a team due to these activities. The games also help the members to make decisions at the neck of the moment.
The Team Building activities have to be made simple and easy to understand with not many rules in them. They should have a set number of people in a team. For the employees these can be a regular part of the schedule and for the fresher, it is made a part of the team selection process. Those who show the same level of receptiveness to instructions are placed together in a team.
