Anthony Tata is the new Deputy Director of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Organization. The JIEDDO was formed on February 14, 2006. Its headquarters can be found in the Pentagon where the organization employs more than 400 government civilians and military personnel, along with almost 600 contract personnel. The annual budget of the JIEDDO is more than $500 million, which the agency uses to deal with threats that improvised explosive devices represent all around the world.

As a joint wartime activity organization, the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Organization is determined to not help those who fight in Afghanistan or anywhere else in two ways. The first one is by providing those soldiers valuable information on the devices. This information will help them dealing with the threats better, reducing the risks. The second one is part of a much bigger plan that plans to significantly reduce the number of improvised explosive devices currently present in the combatregions.

Since the organization has been founded back in 2006, the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Organization has been supporting the combat commanders by providing them with fused analytical products. There have also been various defensive technologies developed during that time, technologies that helped the army identify these devices in a much more efficient way. This already led to a drastic decrease regarding the number of improvised explosive devices currently in the country, but the plan of the organization is naturally to reduce these numbers even more.

The Joint Improvised Explosive Device Organization traces its origins back to a 2003 task force that was established under the command of U.S Army Brigadier General Joseph Votel. That task force had very similar goals compared to the current one, and they managed to form an efficient response to the increasing threats that IED devices created around that time. Anthony Tata is happy to become the New Deputy Director of an esteemed military organization like this, and he cannot wait tocontinue the valuable work of his predecessors, making the army stronger in the process.
