The Self-Reliance and Simple Life Experience empowers attendees with skills for greater safety, peace of mind, and independence.

DENVER, August 27, 2018 -- Over the past year we’ve seen a number of natural disasters, from the wildfires in Colorado and along the West Coast, to the floods in Texas, and the hurricanes hitting Puerto Rico and nearby islands. Each of these moments provides a reminder of the importance of preparedness and developing the knowledge, skills and strategies, along with having the tools to protect our families and communities and develop a resilience when these challenging moments occur.

The Self-Reliance & Simple Life Experience, produced by The National Self-Reliance Project, provides an opportunity to become educated on how we as individuals can prepare our families, homes, and communities for emergencies and even explore the opportunity to create a ‘simpler life’ that’s sustainable and marked by independence and peace-of-mind.

This family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, September 22 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets, booths, and sponsorships are available at www.selfrelianceexpo.com.

Attendees at the event will experience:

Hands-on demonstrations of tools and concepts for preparedness
Educational presentations and discussions from local and national experts
Opportunities to meet volunteer-based, non-profit and first-responder organizations

Exciting topics include:

Wilderness medicine
Beekeeping
Farming
Weather safety
Fire safety
Protecting your children
Outdoor survival techniques
Alternative housing
Cooking without fire
Financial planning and saving for emergencies
Nuclear, chemical, and biological defence weapon survival

“The unfortunate reality is emergencies will happen and therefore it’s so important to be knowledgeable about how we should respond and prepare for these challenges when they occur, offering great peace-of-mind,” said Kiki Bandilla, President of the National Self Reliance Project. “The incredible mix of presenters and exhibitors will provide attendees with the unique opportunity to learn essential life skills that so many of us have forgotten thanks to our modern conveniences and technology. But what happens when those modern conveniences and technology fail us? That’s where self-reliance skills will save lives and encourage independence, and guide our citizens, families and communities, along the path of more empowered and intentional lives. Attendees will learn essential life tools they can pass down for generations.”

September is National Preparedness Month in response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and due to the peaking hurricane season during the month. The goal is to build our capacity to protect our communities and be prepared to respond to emergencies effectively.

About the National Self Reliance Project

The National Self Reliance Project is on a mission to educate and empower our citizens, families, and communities to become more SELF-RELIANT.

Our flagship initiative is the Self-Reliance & Simple Life EXPERIENCE (formerly the Self Reliance Expo), is an interactive experience focused on the four pillars of SELF-RELIANCE: preparedness, survival, sustainability and the 'simple life' (aka homesteading), helping individuals and families find their path back-to-the-basics, resurrecting time-honored traditions and creating and embracing their vision of a simpler life filled with great adventure or simply, great peace-of-mind.
