The restaurant got its name from the Berber Tribe that was part of the great Atlas Mountains in Morocco. The warriors and scholars of this tribe used traditional cuisine to form great alliances with their nearby tribes. By doing so, they extended their control and influence over the entire southern region of the Atlas Mountains.

After the passing away of the head of this tribal population, his nephews have now carried forward the traditional dishes of Sougtani tribe to the future generation of the community through this restaurant.
