Are you concerned about your AC unit during winters? Well, Airzone HVAC brings to you a few very interesting ways in which you can prepare the AC unit for winters and keep it ready for the summers.

One of the biggest concern people raise post-winter season is, “why the Air conditioner is not working?”

Well, we all know that AC units are least used appliances when the cold months roll in. But, that doesn’t mean that the cold seasons won’t go away. In fact, you will need to reuse your AC units once the sun starts shining brighter and hotter.

So, today we will share with you a list of a few things that you must do with your AC unit to ensure it is ready to work in the summer days.

1- Turn the unit off:

For starters, turn off the system. See to it that you turn it off from the inside and outside too. This way, the unit won’t keep running unnecessarily. Also, when we say about turning off the system, we aren’t talking about the entire unit, just the units themselves.

2- Clean it properly:

While the AC isn’t in use, see to it that you clean it properly. Get rid of the debris on the outside of the unit. Also, make sure that neither snow nor other debris makes their way inside the units. Keep dusting off any accumulated snow now and then.

3- Get rid of water in the unit, if any:

There is a possibility of water hiding inside the unit. And if you don’t remove this water then it will freeze during winters can cause damage inside the unit. So, make sure that you get rid of any water accumulation inside the unit.

4- Invest in pipe covers:

AC pipes that are lingering outside your house can have a major impact due to freezing temperatures. So, it is wise to cover them using the pipe covers that are made from foam, thus, preventing the pipes from freezing.
5- Cover the unit:

Even if the outdoor unit has a proper shed over it, it is wise to always cover the unit with vinyl or plastic covers. This way, you can prevent the snow from entering the unit and causing any damage. See to it that the covers are properly secured, or else they may blow up during storms or heavy winds.

6- Inspect the AC every week: One of the best ways to avoid your concern that the Air conditioner not working is by inspecting the unit every week. Make a habit of checking the unit from all the sides to ensure there is no problem with the cover. If possible, flip the cover slightly to inspect snow has slid in.
