The rehabilitation facility offers its iPhone 10+ users the to create perfectly shaped braces through a 3D scanning app.

Every year, hand injuries related to muscles, joints, and bones affect millions of people all across the US. Some injuries are irreversible and permanent, like muscle degeneration, amputation, and more.
Therapies and treatments can help patients in healing the pain depending on their condition. Some conditions require braces or splints to enhance the hand’s mobility and support the joints. This orthotic 3D scanner is an app exclusively designed for iPhone 10+ models, allowing surgeons and doctors to order customized braces per their patient’s needs.

A medical brace is an orthosis that provides support to the body parts affected by injuries, fractures, trauma, etc. These are commonly used to replace casts because the cast can be tiring, uncomfortable, and unhygienic for some people.

The orthotic scanner app takes the image of the affected body part then the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) system generates a customized brace or splint as per the requirement. It ensures that the measurement is accurate so that it is a perfect fit for the patient.

A representative at Able Hands Rehabilitation said, “Our motivation is to provide efficient treatment to our patients through our app. It allows doctors and surgeons to develop customized braces for their patients. We can see the trauma patients go through every day while suffering from hand injuries. We try to ease their pain in any possible way. We ensure that this app provides the finest splint and braces, which helps them in healing faster.”

After printing, braces will need some manual finishing and cleaning. It will have D-Ring velcro straps to secure the affected part of the body. For the comfort of the patient, padding and stockinettes/socks will be added.
The Able Hands Orthotic Scanner creates splints and braces for all kinds of hand injuries from initial to severe stages.
