With the advent of social media as a preferred platform for networking, both on a professional as well as social level, more and more physicians and healthcare professionals are turning to social platforms to browse for job openings and search for new career opportunities. This practice allows in-house recruiters to use a ‘soft’ approach to networking with potential candidates, while simultaneously allowing even those who are not actively searching for a job to stay on the radar of the recruiters.
In a briefing document to NHS human resources managers, the NHS Employers organisation outlined how NHS organisations can use social media platforms to increase the number of relevant job applications and to enrich the recruitment process.

By using social media, NHS Employers organisation outlines ways to help prospective, quality employees, by:
• broadcasting available jobson social media platforms
• targeting individuals and groups of people with relevant information
• making sure your organisation is social media friendly
